Evie lazily turned to see who was around, only to perk up when she saw someone she found to be quite attractive. A smirk curling at the corners of her mouth and a gleam in her eye, she addressed the man nearest her. “Hey there~.”
“Hey,” came Dean’s monotonous response as he finished off the article in the paper he was reading. He placed it down and reached for his coffee, looking up to see who was talking to him. Immediately, he gained more interest. “Hey,” he repeated, this time grinning practically from ear to ear.
Smiling to herself and internally chuckling, the brunette shifted a little to better talk with the other. “Don’t see too many young people reading the newspaper these days. Well, the newspaper that isn’t on something electronic. Anything interesting?” She asked as she kept the gleam in her eye and her charm up.
He shrugged and pushed the paper away. Consider himself distracted. “Yeah, well, it doesn’t need to be charged up or plugged in for you to read it, either,” he replied. With a shrug, Dean took a sip of his coffee and gestured for her to sit down at the booth across from him. “Nah, nothing really. Good, though, that nothin’ bad makes the papers here. Must be a quiet town.”
One corner of her mouth twitched up into a small smirk for a split second as he invited her to sit with him. How could she deny such an invitation from such an attractive man? Gladly sitting in the seat across from him, she brought one hand up and brushed one side of her hair behind an ear. “That is very true. I do prefer traditional books and stuff over anything electronic myself. Hell, I don’t even own a cell phone.”
At his last comment, Evie couldn’t help chuckling a little. If only he knew how things usually went in her circle of friends that, by now and after all they went through, were a little more like family. “Ah, but the key phrase is ‘makes the papers.’ There’s plenty bad here, a least in the small group of people I interact with on a daily basis. But I’m curious, why would one want to go looking for ‘bad stuff?’”

■ Back from work!
■ And I'm feeling much better than earlier
■ if any of you cared to read my little rant post earlier.
■ I swear if ibuprofen came in candy form and you couldn't OD on it
■ I'd eat it all the time.
■ Especially on these times of the month...
■ Tea is amazing too
■ but I already drink that a lot.
